ふかくしのぶこい - 歌撰恋之部 - 喜多川歌麿
This young woman is probably the mistress of one of the tea-houses of the gay quarters at Shin Yoshiwara. Her black hair is neatly tied up in an omarumage style, her teeth are dyed black (indicating that she is a married woman), but her eyebrows are unshaved. There is an air of cool gracefulness in her expression and pose, and one can imagine that she feels that her love will never be discovered.
Outlining the hairline with the white markers and the kimono with fine lines. In the Edo period, there were specialized craftsmen, and it was a place to show the skills of carvers. The gesture of holding a smoke pipe makes you feel feminine softness.
